Password-protect a PDF
Lock a PDF with a password, so only people you give it to can open it.
or drop it anywhere
How to password-protect a PDF
Open your PDF
Pick it or drop it on this page.
Set a password
Type it twice in the Password panel.
Save
The saved PDF asks for the password before it opens.
Protect PDF in your browser
A password set here encrypts the file's contents, so the PDF cannot be opened in any reader without it. It is not a flag that a reader may choose to ignore.
The password and the file stay on your device. Keep the password somewhere safe: it cannot be recovered, which is what makes it secure. To change or remove it later, open the PDF with the password and use the Password panel.
Why use OnePDF to password-protect a PDF
Encrypted, not just flagged
The file's contents are encrypted with your password.
Change or remove it later
Open it with the password to set a new one or take it off.
Private by design
The password and the file never leave your device.
