PDF to Word in your browser

A PDF does not remember how it was written. It records where each piece of text was drawn on the page, and little else: no paragraphs, no columns, no styles. To give you a Word document you can work in, OnePDF reads those positions back into paragraphs, finds the font, size and colour of every run of text, and writes each page as a section of a .docx the same size as the page.

The conversion happens inside your browser, so contracts, CVs and statements are converted without being sent anywhere. A scanned page has no text to read until it is recognised: run OCR first and its words convert like any others.

Why use OnePDF to convert PDF to Word

  • Formatting kept

Every paragraph keeps its font, size, colour, bold, italic, underline and alignment, and sits where it was on the page.

  • One section per page

Each page becomes a Word section with the page's own size, so mixed A4, Letter and landscape pages stay as they were.

  • Columns and tables stay side by side

Text that sat side by side (two columns, table cells, a label beside its value) goes into a borderless table, so it stays editable.

  • Scans too

Run OCR on a scanned PDF first and its recognised words convert as real, editable text.

Questions about PDF to Word

Is the Word file editable?

Yes. Text comes out as real Word paragraphs and runs, not pictures of text, so you can retype, restyle and reflow it.

Will it look exactly like the PDF?

Close to it. A PDF records where each line was drawn, not how the document was built, so the layout is rebuilt from the page. Fonts you do not have are replaced by Word with similar ones, and drawn lines and shapes are left out; the converter tells you when it leaves something out.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Yes. Open it, run OCR from the tools list to recognise its words, then convert. Without OCR a scanned page comes across as a picture.

Is my PDF uploaded?

Not unless you sign in. Signed out, your file is opened by OnePDF inside your browser, on your own device, and is not uploaded to any server. Signed in with a TensorActivity account, the files you open are also saved to your account, encrypted, so they are there on every device you sign in to.

Does it work with Google Docs and LibreOffice?

Yes. The result is a standard .docx file, which Word, Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice all open.
